“Doings of A Week”
Chas. Lippert started out Monday morning with his big plowing outfit to tear up a section of land about twelve miles east of town. Lippert has a Gar-Scott steam engine with a gang of six 14-inch plows and figures on turning over from fifteen to twenty acres a day.
Wm. Finch is sporting around in a brand new Overland automobile which he brought back with him from his eastern trip. Messrs. Finch and Harlan made the trip from the east to the Montana state line in the machine when bad roads made it necessary to take to the railroad.
W.C.T.U. Doings ( From Wikipedia – The Woman's Christian Temperance Union (W.C.T. U.) is an international temperance organization. It was among the first organizations of women devoted to social reform with a program that linked the religious and the secular through concerted and far-reaching reform strategies based on applied Christianity."
The Alice Barnes union met with Mrs. Eva Collier Wednesday, May 29, and made wreaths to decorate the soldiers’ graves. On Thursday, May 30, the soldiers’ graves were decorated with wreaths. The following graves were decorated:

“Canton Valley News”
The ranch home of Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Daniels on Sunday was a scene of much merriment when Mr. and Mrs. Albert Smith and sons, Albert Jr. and Charles and daughter, Betty, and Bobby Williams, Mrs. Robert Harris and daughter, Roberta Ann, all of Crow Creek, and Miss Lillian Daniels of Helena motored there to spend the day picnicking on the farm.
Sheep shearing has commenced in the valley this week when on Wednesday W.D. Rankin’s band was driven to the ranch to be sheared. If weather is favorable, it will take about 3 or 4 days to finish the job.
“Crow Creek News”
Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland Wallace spent the week-end in Billings visiting friends. Edna Wallace, who has been attending school in Billings, returned with them for her summer vacation.
Mrs. Rowland Kimpton and sons, Billy, Albert and Jack, were in Manhattan Monday on a business errand.
Mr. and Mrs. Dick Moudree, in company with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Thompson of Townsend, spent Sunday fishing above Ennis.

“Abe Fandrich Honored with Memoriam”
A great deal of sentiment has been expressed by a number of people in Townsend relative to having a memorial initiated in honor of Mr. Abe Fandrich, long time resident and school employee who passed away quite unexpectedly here last week,
It is the wish and desire of the Broadwater County High School trustees that such a memorial would be fitting and proper as a remembrance to a man who has given so much to our school and community. It is their wish that the school athletic field be named “Fandrich Field” and that monies received for this memorial be used to purchase a football scoreboard. Interested persons are asked to send contributions to this fund to Gene Sautter, Townsend, Montana.
“City Fathers Comment on Dump Use”
The City Council of the City of Townsend commented favorably as to how the citizens of Townsend have been using the city dump at their regular meeting held at the city hall Monday evening.
At a previous Council meeting it was debated whether to fence the grounds, employ a caretaker, keep the grounds open at certain times and charge for its use. This debate was prompted by misuse of the dump to the point where the Council felt action on their part might be necessary. However, after a short trial period, the condition at the dump has improved. If this cooperation on the part of the citizens continues, it will not be necessary to take these measurers and use of the dump will continue as in the past.
Fencing of the dump grounds is in progress at the present and eventually will be completed. If restrictions of any sort are necessary in the future, the grounds will be equipped so as to be able to enforce these restrictions.
