The Town Pump Charitable Foundation has stepped up to the plate with a $10,000 donation to help build Bulldog High School Baseball here in Townsend. The donation is part of a $20,000 start up amount, required by the Townsend Schools Board before it would add its committed $10,000 to the sport slated to start in 2025. Over time the donation will impact well over 200 Townsend youth players in the overall Townsend Youth Baseball program. The donation is specific to high school baseball development.

Sumer Toney, manager of Townsend’s Town Pump convenience store, presented the check at the May 20 Babe Ruth League game to Coach Gary Bauman and Townsend Youth Baseball League VP John Bleile at McCarthy Park. Young team players from several divisions of TYB gathered to be part of this generous presentation sponsored by the Foundation.

Over the past year alone, the Foundation has provided over $50,000 to the Townsend Community according to Bill McGladdery, spokesperson for the Town Pump Charitable Foundation. Specifically:

• Rotary -$7,000 for tree planting

• Broadwater County Development Corporation - $7,000 for the Nook

• Broadwater County Theater - $7,000 for sound system

• Broadwater Social Services $7,000 for program support

• STOKE - $7,000 for program support

• Townsend Schools – $5,000 for weekend backpack meals

• Broadwater Schools - $1,000 for summer reading program

• Broadwater Food Pantry - $9,000 annual grant for program support

Also, in the Fall of 2023, Townsend Town Pump team members raised an additional $7,347 from our generous customers and players to support Townsend’s Broadwater Food Pantry. And most recently our Town Pump team members sold 262 MTN/ Chevy Truck raffle tickets raising $1,310 to support Special Olympics of Montana.

The baseball coaches, committee members, players, parents, families and fans are grateful that Town Pump has chosen to continue its positive impact in our Townsend and School community with this generous donation. Let’s play ball!
