The Bulldogs sent quite an entourage to the Cascade Top 8 Meet at Memorial Stadium in Great Falls on Tuesday, April 30th.

The Top 8 meet features class B and C athletes from central Montana with the best-established marks this season. Despite the windy conditions, those athletes persevered to establish more than 60 personal best times/distances overall.

Junior, Deegan Mattson managed a pair of 6th-place finishes in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.76 and the 200-meter dash in 24.30. His 110-meter hurdle race ended with a 5th-place finish in 17.33 seconds. Freshman Jim Tew landed a 36’3” effort in the triple jump which garnered him 8th place.

Sophomore, Holly Newman looked strong in the 100-meter hurdles finishing 4th with a time of 17.25, while her season’s best time in the 300-meter hurdles of 51.87 seconds got her another 4th-place finish. Her effort in the long jump was 15’7.5” for 3rd place while her clearing of 4’10” in the high jump landed her in 7th place. Senior, Reese Wolfgram ran the 100-meter dash in 13.95 for 8th position. She landed a 15’2” leap for 5th place in the long jump and a 32’1.5” hop, skip and jump for her best finish of the day at 4th in the triple jump.

Junior, Memphys Meier clocked a time of 5:57 in the 1600-meter run, landing her in 8th place. Fellow juniors, Nolan Flynn, Kaelyn Sangray and Abby Wickens all competed in the grueling 3200-meter run. Nolan finished in 4th place with a time of 10:56. Kaelyn established a new personal best time of 12:48 (on the heels of an earlier best only three days before in East Helena) which garnered her 3rd place. Abby rounded out the distance trio in 5th place with a time of 13:16.

Junior, Jazlyn Martin managed a throw of 83’11” in the discus for 8th place. The ladies' team took both relays to the top 8 meet with the 4x100-meter squad being: Reese Wolfgram, Luci Horne, Aspen Slyker, and Amanda Pesicka. They finished in 54.61 which was the 5th fastest of the day. Reese, Luci, and Amanda were joined by Memphys Meier in the longer relay, the 4-400-meter relay. They finished in 6th place with a time of 4:34.
