The track and field Broadwater Bulldogs closed out their regular season schedule by traveling to MCPS Stadium at Big Sky High School in Missoula for the KLH Invite hosted by Seeley-Swan. There were over twenty class B and C schools represented with many athletes looking to improve before heading to their respective district tournaments next week.

The Lady Bulldogs topped all teams with a total of 101 points, winning as a team for the first time this season, but that was only one of the headlines from the day’s efforts.

The ladies’ short relay made up of Reese Wolfgram, Havyn Vandenacre, Aspen Slyker, and Kaitlyn Noyes finished in a time of 50.75, which was fast enough to 1) win the race, 2) qualify them for state, and 3) break the school record! Most impressive ladies!!

Besides her efforts in the sprints, Kaitlyn had an excellent day in the field. She managed three 2nd place finishes, which earned her an extra award, “Outstanding Female Field Event Athlete”. What an accomplishment!

Other standout performances include Aspen Slyker, who was a member of that record-setting relay and managed two more 6th place sprint finishes setting a personal and a seasonal record. The distance crew are running their best times of the season with every one of them placing in the top ten at all three distances.

Junior Memphis Meier placed 3rd in both her races, looking strong and recovered from an injury that has plagued her since last season. Freshman Kyla Meissner won both the one- and two-mile races, now having established state-qualifying times at both distances.

100-meter dash: 6th Aspen Slyker 13.70 PR and Amanda Pesicka 14.43. 200-meter dash: 2nd Kaitlyn Noyes 27.13, 6th Aspen Slyker 28.39 SR, Amanda Pesicka 29.56 PR, and Sarah Morgan 34.26. 400-meter dash: Sarah Morgan 1:21 PR. 800-meter run: 3rd Memphys Meier 2:41 SR, 5th Jordyn Pittman 2.56 PR, and 7th Shalyn Sentinella 3:18 PR. 1600-meter run: 1st Kyla Meissner 5:25 PR, 3rd Memphys Meier 5:48 SR, 5th Kaelyn Sangray 5:58 PR, 8th Abby Wickens 6:21, 10th Jordyn Pittman 6:29 PR. 3200-meter run: 1st Kyla Meissner 12:18 and 3rd Kaelyn Sangray 13:07.

100-meter hurdles: 7th Holly Newman 17.24 SR. 4x100-meter relay: 1st Reese Wolfgram, Havyn Vandenacre, Aspen Slyker, & Kaitlyn Noyes 50.75 PR, school record. High jump: Tied for 2nd Kaitlyn Noyes and Holly Newman 5’0” PR. Long Jump: 2nd Kaitlyn Noyes 16’10”, 5th Holly Newman 15’10” and Luci Horne 13’10.5”. Triple Jump: 2nd Kaitlyn Noyes 34’3.25”.

Shot Put: Berlin Korr 25’6”, Karsyn Sangray 24”, and Jazlyn Martin 23’10”. Discus: Jazlyn Martin 79’5”, Karsyn Sangray 69’3”, and Berlin Korr 54’1”. Javelin: 1st Havyn Vandenacre 117’7”, 6th Luci Horne 102’9” PR, Aspen Slyker 83’4”, Jazlyn Martin 72’1”, Karsyn Sangray 49’4”.

The gentlemen also had their best finish as a team with 30 points, earning them 6th overall.

The boys’ distance squad showed their fitness with junior Nolan Flynn leading the way with two 4th place finishes; taking 9 seconds off his all-time best finish in the 1600-meter run.

Not to be outdone, sophomore Gavin Greene and freshman Rylan Hoveland both managed to set their personal bests at both of their distances. Junior Deegan Mattson and Freshman Jim Tew both established PRs in the long hurdles, with Jim erasing two seconds from his time. Sophomore Gavin Schmele added more than 8 feet to his best discus throw!

100-meter dash: Colt Barnard 12.16. 200-meter dash: Colt Barnard 24.77. 400-meter dash: 7th Marek Easter 55.46. 800-meter run: Gavin Greene 2:26 PR. 1600-meter run: 4th Nolan Flynn 4:46 PR, Rylan Hoveland 5:28 PR, and Gavin Greene 5:35 PR. 3200-meter run: 4th Nolan Flynn 10:56 SR and Rylan Hoveland 12:10 PR.

110-meter hurdles: 4th Deegan Mattson 17.24 and 5th Jim Tew 18.01. 300-meter hurdles: 1st Deegan Mattson 43.57 PR and Jim Tew 48.36 PR. 4x100-meter relay: 4th Marek Easter, Jim Tew, Colt Barnard & Deegan Mattson 46.14 PR.

Shot put: Gavin Schmele 35’7”, Trace Giomi 34’2” PR, Tanner Bird 32’1.5” PR, Pat Gossard 30’3”, and Cooper Hines 24’1.5” Discus: 5th Gavin Schmele 117’3” PR, Trace Giomi 101’1.5” PR, Tanner Bird 74’6”, and Creighton Wright 60’2.5”. Javelin: 10th Marek Easter 136’5”, Pat Gossard 119’6” PR, Tanner Bird 106’5”, Gavin Schmele 94’8”, and Aidan Kitto 88”.

Long Jump: 7th Jim Tew 19’2” PR and Marek Easter 17’5.5”. Triple Jump: 7th Tavyn Anderson 38’6.5 PR, 9th Jim Tew 37’11”, and Gavin Greene 29’6”.

The Broadwater Bulldogs will travel to the Belgrade Event Center for the 5B District Meet on Thursday, May 9th. The top six finishers in each event will be awarded ribbons and earn their right to advance to the Divisional Meet in Laurel on Thursday, May 16th. Good luck Dogs!
