Schools Receive First Aid Duffle Bags
Tim Pool
A small group of concerned citizens were able to make a potentially life-saving contribution to the three Broadwater County Schools…six red duffle bags, each containing 40 Stop the Bleed packets and Tourniquets in case of a mass-casualty event, like an earthquake.
The group, Supporting Broadwater County’s 1st Responders Committee, is part of the Townsend American Legion Post 42, Auxiliary and SAL units. The committee received donations and a grant from the Broadwater Community Foundation to purchase the duffle bags each containing 40 individual Stop the Bleed sterile packets of gauze, bandages, gloves, tape and Tourniquets allowing school staff, students, and others to administer 1st Aid. The Walmart Foundation donated the Tourniquets.
The Stop the Bleed duffle bags will be placed at strategic locations in the schools for quick response and treatment.
The 1st Responder Committee previously provided multiple LifeVac Anti-Choking Devices to the schools, Ambulances, ER and Fire Department.
The 1st Responder Committee wishes to THANK our community and Broadwater Community Foundation for its financial support allowing this Mission to be accomplished.
