The Broadwater Bulldogs traveled to Gallatin High School in Bozeman for the Manhattan Christian Invitational on Saturday, April 20th. The sun was shining but was deceivingly cold with a breeze that felt like it came straight off a glacier.

The day started off differently from a traditional meet schedule with the 3200-meter runners taking to the track first, which is becoming more common.

The Lady Bulldogs placed second as a team among 20 teams with 84.75 points behind Twin Bridges, who tallied 90 points. Track and field teams score points by placing individuals in the top six places in each event. First-place finishers tally 10 points for their teams, while second through six-place finishers score 8, 6, 4, 2, and 1 point respectfully. Ties are certainly possible with them happening more often in the field events. For example, the ladies' high jump this past weekend resulted in a four-way tie for fourth place; therefore, resulting in decimal places in team points.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Noyes continued her strong season with PRs in three of her events: 100-meter dash, long and triple jumps, where she finished 2nd, 1st, and 3rd respectfully. Kaitlyn is just one part of a strong core of horizontal jumpers for the Lady Bulldogs.

Senior Reese Wolfgram had her season’s best jump in the triple garnering a fifth-place finish while also landing 9th in the long jump. Sophomore Holly Newman added a 4th place jump while senior Luci Horne marked her season’s best distance in the long jump.

Senior Havyn Vandenacre continued her dominance in the javelin and 100-meter hurdles with a couple of wins coupled with a 2nd place in the 200-meter dash.

Junior throwers Jazlyn Martin and Karsyn Sangray added a couple more PRs in the shot put and discus, respectfully. Sophomore Aspen Slyker clocked her season’s best in the 200-meter dash, while Junior Amanda Pesicka marked her SR in the 400-meter dash.

The early morning start for the distance runners resulted in PR/SRs for the trio of freshman Kyla Meissner and juniors Kaelyn Sangray and Abby Wickens; all who finished in the top 9 of the 3200-meter run. Meissner finished 2nd in the 1600-meter run with junior Memphys Meier not far behind for 8th. Any times/distances marked with PR refer to personal record for the individual, while SR denotes a season’s record.

PRs for upperclassmen are impressive as they mark their best effort over their entire high school career.

Fellow sophomore Trace Giomi increased his personal best distances from last weekend by increasing them again in both the shot put and discus, while sophomore Aidan Kitto increased his PR distance in the discus.

Another sophomore, Colt Barnard had his personal best time cracking the top ten in the 200-meter dash. The men’s team is nursing several injuries, which is a delicate balance in the middle of the season to ensure their continued fitness without inflaming said injuries; hence the shorter list of times/distances.
