Tree Board Preparing for Arbor Day Weekend

Tree Board
The City of Townsend has been designated as a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation for the 24th year!
The Townsend Tree Board is celebrating Arbor Day, on Thursday, May 2. The Tree Board will announce the winners of the 2024 5th grade Arbor Day Poster Contest and will plant a tree with the 5th-grade students and teachers. Tree planting will continue throughout the weekend of May 3 through May 5th.
The Tree Board will be planting many new trees in Townsend on public property with the help of a Carbon Reduction Fund Grant from Graymont. Graymont employees will be helping pot and plant the new trees as well as Broadwater County High School horticulture class students and 4H Club members funded by Graymont. The Tree Board also received a small grant from Backyards of Broadwater County to plant trees this year.
The Tree Board has sold some trees to the Dillon Tree Board again this year.
The Tree Board invites you to plant trees now for future generations to enjoy in Broadwater County. Happy Arbor Day!
