Following are the draft statements of Core Purpose, Core Values, and a Big Audacious Goal developed and agreed on during strategic planning sessions in March and April. A final session will be held in the coming months to establish short-term goals and actions.
Core Purpose: Why are we here?
Developing each student’s full potential, now and as future members of the community and society, both locally and globally.
Core Values: What do we stand for?
Comprehensive Education: We believe in the development of the full potential of every student in all areas of their life, including academic, social, physical, and emotional needs.
Stewardship: We are a district that believes in public education and the efficient, responsible use of our resources.
Innovation: We are a district that strives to innovate, seeking the very best advancements to ensure the most effective teaching and highest quality learning possible occurs in our schools.
Safe, Positive, Enriching Environment: We believe it is imperative to provide a safe environment; an environment that not only provides physical safety but also safety to learn from mistakes, to explore the limits of our capabilities.
Sense of Community/Citizenship: We are a district that values respectful, responsible, trustworthy men and women who uphold the highest standards in our community.
Excellence in Staff/Teaching: We are a district that believes in the value of our staff and strives to provide the environment, tools, and support to allow them to excel in their profession.
Big, Audacious Goal: Ideal description of the school district in 15-20 years’ time.
Townsend Schools will provide innovative, transformative educational programming that is individually based in order to meet the academic and social/emotional needs of all students. Adaptable, high-quality instruction and educational opportunities will be utilized to meet student needs. The education will include off-site experiential learning, virtual learning, work-based learning and other learning opportunities.
