Community
Author: Chelsea Rauser
There’s something to be said about “community.” The people that show up for you, encourage you and show their endless support. There’s something so special about a community that comes together to ask questions, to tell stories and to share their family trees to draw connections between the land. A community that celebrates the culture and inspires others to continue traditions made long ago. For a story of a cosmos that someone’s mother once grew, connecting perfect strangers or a friend of a distant relative to stand in awe of a garden on display.
There’s something to be said about “community.” Those who come together as strangers and leave as friends. Community is someone you just met, willing to share a favorite book just because it reminds them of you. Community is thousands of acres of ranch land, fields, and generational ranches. Community is those who watch out for each other, who lend a hand and call you neighbor. When everyone is a friend and no one stands alone. Where we respect those who built our town, our lands, and everything we have learned to stand for. Where pride takes a backseat to a helping hand.
There’s something to be said about “community.” Where we gather in honor of shared beliefs and celebrate the little things. Where we lift each other up and have only the good things to say. Where a garden brings people together, and where a town makes us like family. There is strength in our numbers, no safer place to be than home. Where roots run deep and those who leave, never leave for long.
There’s something to be said about “community.” We are a community of family and friends, where compassion is never ending and where kindness is ever on display.
We are a community of growers. A community of makers, do-it-yourselfers, and self-sustainers. We strive to keep it authentic and to continue traditions passed down from generations before. Where tomatoes grow like jungles and zucchini might as well be our state vegetable.
I am in awe of the culture of this community. I am inspired by the compassion, the heart, and the generosity of our neighbors.
“Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much.” – Helen Keller.
Farm & Table is a homestead, flower farm, and market in the heart of Broadwater County. We strive to honor the culture of our lands and spread its beauty, inspiring in others a desire to grow and harvest.
Farm & Table is hosting an Autumn Community Harvest Dinner, with fresh locally grown produce from growers in our community as well as locally raised beef and lamb. Everything cooked will be locally sourced, from the eggs, to the wheat, the vegetables and the beef. Our carefully crafted menu will consist of hors d'oeuvres, a main course, and dessert around a firepit. Gather with us at the farm as we wine and dine on the splendors of our community growers.
This is our way to give back to the culture that defines us, the community that supports us, and the friends that feel like family.
