Two former RY timber employees from Townsend will have their work in the plant in Livingston curtailed as the
Livingston mill lost its planer to a fire. The fire, which started early Monday morning, burned three buildings. One person was severely burned and is at the Salt Lake City burn center, according to resource manager Dennis Davaz. Davaz manages the mill property in Townsend.
Davaz did not know when the planer, which smooths the lumber, would be up and running again. “We have work that can be done in the Livingston mill, so we’ll try hard to keep our employees going for the time being,” he said. The mill employs 85 people.
RY Timber in Townsend was shut down in 2019 because of a fire. Ninety workers were either furloughed to the Livingston mill or were able to find other jobs.
