Trailhead Church Sponsors AWANA Program
Author: Mark Roelofs, Trailhead Church
The children’s bible study and fun program, AWANA, is coming to Trailhead on September 28 for kids ages 4 through 6th grade. The popular program used by many churches is new to Trailhead and will be led by Levi and Alicia Van Zee and Beth Roloefs. It will be held at the church at 20 Trailhead View and will begin each Wednesday at 4:15 p.m. The program is open to the public.
Volunteer Peggy Christie will be aiding the group as needed. The long-time leader of AWANA explained that AWANA means “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed,” taken from 2 Timothy 2:15. She said it is an international evangelical ministry that provides bible-based learning along with game time and learning bible verses. Trained leaders offer the children a well-organized format in a weekly event that children look forward to and love. “AWANA teaches kids about Jesus along with helping them to develop socially, spiritually and in their relationships with each other. I hope parents will take advantage of this opportunity for their children,” she said.
In other fall programs, Sunday School for children ages 4 through 5th grade will begin at 9:00 a.m. each Sunday. Two adult classes will take place during that same time.
The popular Wednesday night Youth Group gathering will change locations. Pastor Mark and Beth Roloefs will host youth in 7th grade through 12th grade beginning at 6:15 p.m. at 407 South Cherry St. Assistant Pastor Clay Muinzer and Casey and Kelley Gobbs will lead the always exciting meetings. A meal is included.
