BCHS Class Of 1970 Reunion At Radersburg

The historic Radersburg School hosted the BCHS (we were known as Broadwater County High School) class of 1970 on Saturday, August 13. Thirty-four of the eighty-eight students that entered high school in Townsend in 1966 attended the reunion.
Radersburg Historical Preservation (RHPI) allowed the Class of ’70 to have the reunion at the Radersburg School. RHPI members Al and Debi Smith made sure the school was cleaned up and ready to receive the attendees. They groomed the grounds around the school and the area was immaculate.
When Keith Kirscher, Gary Richtmyer and Vic Sample arrived at the school early to set up for the reunion, the sky over the Elk Horn Mountains was black. By the time the reunion started at 1:00 p.m. the skies were blue and the temperatures were warm with a slight breeze. The view from the schoolhouse grounds was spectacular with green pastures up close and the mountains providing a beautiful backdrop.
Many of the attendees took time to view the historic displays in the Radersburg School museum. Many of those at the reunion had family ties to Radersburg and enjoyed seeing pictures and articles about Radersburg, the area and the families.
The reunion was catered by Missy and John Rauser and the food was terrific! Missy owned and operated the Highway 12 Café for many years and is known to be a great cook. John is renowned for his BBQ pork.
Before the reunion at Radersburg, the Class of ’70 and the Class of ’72 were given a tour of the Broadwater County Museum, hosted by Linda Huth. Everyone that attended the tour was impressed with the County Museum and with the Curator, Linda Huth.
In addition to opening up the Radersburg School, RHPI also opened up the historic Methodist Church just down the street from the school to any of the reunion attendees that wanted to visit the church.
Our class thanks Linda Huth and the Broadwater County Museum for the great tour and the Radersburg Historical Preservation group for allowing us the use of the Radersburg School for the reunion.
