“Doings of a Week”

Nearly all of the buildings on the Riverside Ranch in this county are reported to have been destroyed by fire the middle part of last week.

Thos. Dixon returned Thursday from a trip to California, where he spent the winter for the benefit of his health.

Chester Pool and Bob Hudnall journeyed down to Toston the other night to a dance. And more than that it is currently reported that they had a few maiden hearts fluttering while they were on the scene. This is only a report, however, and the Opinion wouldn’t for the sun, moon and stars give anything away to cause trouble at home.

The city water system, which include bath and toilet, is being installed this week in the homes of Mayor Faltermeyer, Dan McCarthy, H. Geehan, Arthur Sholes and Chas. Henry. The homes of those mentioned will have all the advantages of a modern home when completed. There are, perhaps, others whom the Opinion man failed to nose out on this proposition.

“Four More Boys Can Yet Enroll in April CCC Call”

If more boys realized the splendid training and advantages in store for them, they would ask to join the CCC forces, said Nora Cummings, case worker for Broadwater County, today. There is yet a chance to get in on the April call. Four boys can yet enroll before the quota is filled, she said. Two boys, Clifford Gillespie and Clare Drummond have joined in this allotment and four more can join. The deadline for enrollment is April 20th.

Broadwater boys taking advantage of the training are: Max Sorensen, who is at home this week enjoying a furlough; Thos. Ellis, John Akin, Herman Wright, Joe Hensley, Floyd Shoemaker, Maurice Smith, Arthur Smith, David Chamberlain and the two new recruits. Jim. Gillogly is also home on a furlough, making a total of 12.

Mr. and Mrs. John Sorensen returned from Alberton last week where they had attended Parents’ Day at the CCC camp and were accompanied home by their son. They were very much impressed by the orderliness and apparent fine training all of the enrollees were receiving.
