Townsend Schools will be holding kindergarten registration and roundup for students who will be entering school in August 2024. Students need to be 5 years old on or by September 10, 2024. It is required that children register and attend the kindergarten roundup to be placed in a class.
REGISTRATION OPENS
When: Starting February 1st, 2024
Monday - Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Where: Townsend Elementary School Office @ 210 N Pine
Please bring immunization and birth certificate along with registration packet (available at office) to schedule a time slot for kindergarten roundup.
KINDERGARTEN ROUNDUP
When: April 25, 2024
It will take approximately 45-60 minutes to complete the developmental screener and will be held in the community room near the library.
** Please note: Townsend School District is exploring HB352 which is an early literacy program, PreK program, designed to provide targeted interventions. The PreK program will be eligible to children who are 4 years of age or older on or before September 10, 2024, have not completed Kindergarten, and will not be proficient in reading by the completion of 3rd grade based on a development trajectory supported by a research-based assessment. If your student qualifies for kindergarten based on age but may not be ready, please register for kindergarten. Following Kindergarten Roundup, the district will be able to provide further information on the early literacy program, PreK, and if it will be available.
