Spirits Were High at the Broadwater Community Theater Fun Raiser

If you enjoy dancing, listening to good Irish and bluegrass music and eating great food, Broadwater Community Theater’s St. Patrick’s Day Fun Raiser was the place to be Saturday at the Lodge.
More than 40 people stomped their feet and clapped their hands to the concertina and fiddle music of Helena Handbasket led by Terry and Jim Gundersen and joined by Dave and Candace Payne. Judy and Virgil Henke opened the dancing with a lively step; then others joined and so went the evening.
The evening would not be complete without the appearance of Pat ”O’Trick” Plantenberg and his sidekick, Daryl O’Blumhagen. Plantenberg acted as a persuader to the group to buy 50/50 tickets, sign up for the silent auction and buy a duck to win $50.
The evening began with a short musical skit by Junior Theater Guild members Anthony and Destany Grandy, Ava Boaz and Harper Hazlett. Dressed in pirate costumes, complete with swords, the troupe performed a piece from last summer’s play, Treasure Island. The actors in turn became the servers: they brought charcuterie boards heaped with goodies to each table. The boards were generously arranged by Amanda Domino and helpers.
Funds raised during the event will go towards sponsoring a summer children’s play, Missoula Children’s Theater which will perform in Townsend in May. Queen City Swing dance band will have Big Band sound and music from the 70's and 80's Saturday, March 23. The dance band leads off the season’s many events this year.
President LaRinda Spencer along with board members, would like to thank the contributors who gave so generously to offer a full silent auction; Canyon Ferry Brewing, and sponsors for their generous help in making the evening a success.
