Broadwater Education Foundation Annual Trivia Night Fundraiser
Victor Sample
On Thursday, March 14 the Broadwater Education Foundation held their Annual Trivia Night Fundraiser. Eighteen teams of up to 8 members came to the event to compete with their knowledge of trivia!
The American Legion Post 42 provided a no-host bar and the Broadwater Education Foundation provided a taco bar with all the taco fixings and accompaniments you could want and a variety of desserts. It was a great way to begin the evening.
Terey Artz acted as the host of the Trivia Contest with Jennifer Beaty and Christina Hartmann judging the answers and tracking the scores. The contest consisted of 6 categories: General Knowledge, Disney, Art and Artists, TV Ad Audio Clips, Sports and Famous Explorers. Each team could designate 1 category to be a double points category and there was a bonus question at the end where teams could bet up to 20 of their points.
In addition to the Trivia Contest itself, there was a Calcutta where individuals or teams could bet on themselves or other teams to win. The bidding was a “silent auction” style bidding.
Missouri Valley Marketing Mavericks were the third-place team and Irish Wristwatch placed second.
In Search of Bum Calf was the grand prize winner! Team members Jill Flynn, Siobhan Flynn, Lynn Reynolds, Rose Chewning Shannon Reynolds, Jeana Ruchert and Rusty Ruchert's mastery of trivia won out over the other 17 teams!
Everyone had a great time and it was an opportunity to socialize with our communities' friends and neighbors. The event drew many faithful Broadwater Education Foundation trivia night attendees as well as many newcomers.
The Broadwater Education Foundation's Mission is to achieve academic excellence through enhanced classroom opportunities and experiences for K-12 public school students within the Townsend School District No. 1.
Grants have been awarded for projects benefitting kindergarten through high school students. A few examples: Stem boxes, Books and storytelling kits, soil samples, painting supplies, Ladybug habitats, Ukuleles, costumes and Board Games.
