It is difficult to succeed in multiple sports for the entire four-year span of high school. To do so would require a natural talent and time for fine-tuning and perfection. In addition, it would require a passion unlike any other. It is thus even more difficult to succeed in multiple sports for all four years and always keep a high level of humility, love, and respect for the character of this athlete. Havyn Vandenacre is the highest example of the perfect athlete.

Havyn has lived in Townsend for all 18 years of her life. Her parents, Trinity and Paige Vandenacre raised her and her 20-year-old brother Gavin and 13-year-old Heston. She was homeschooled for four years before entering the Townsend school system in 4th grade. She has taken every opportunity to get involved in the school system and give back to the community which has given her many passions. Havyn has been involved in Basketball, Volleyball, Track and Field, Speech and Drama, Student Council, National Honors Society, Bulldogs Beyond, Pep Band, and Youth Council. Every community member in Townsend can be certain that she succeeded in all of these amazing organizations, but personally, Volleyball has made the most impact in her life.

Havyn fought her way to become the Team Captain. On her journey to achieving this goal, she learned life lessons, commenting, “[volleyball] pushed me through so much mentally that… it helped me become who I am today” and “it helped me come out of my shell and realize that failure is a part of life and I shouldn’t be afraid of it because you learn from your mistakes.”

Unexpectedly, Havyn will finish her athletic career at the University of Providence in Great Falls for Track and Field. She is not entirely sure where her college career will take her, but she has been considering the possibility of pursuing a degree in Ultrasound Technology. With her love for life and her additional talent for hair styling, Havyn has been wrestling with the idea of caring for mothers and their babies in some way or becoming a hairdresser. Greatness is in Havyn Vandenacre’s future, but the Townsend community will still be missed, “I am going to miss being in a small town and knowing everyone in the community. I will also miss the people that I have grown up with and all the people that support me here in town.” Run fast, jump far, and never give up!
