Eleanore "Ellie" Magnant April 12, 1928 — January 27, 2024 Lisa Briese Eleanore “Ellie” Magnant, 95, passed away very peacefully on Saturday, January 27th, 2024 at Milestone Assisted Living under the compassionate care of Compassus Home Care and Hospice in Tomahawk, WI.
Ellie was born on April 12, 1928, in Ashland, WI. She was the second youngest of 15 siblings. She was married to Lawrence “Larry” Magnant on November 1, 1947, in Ashland. He passed away in 2010.
Surviving Ellie are her children; Chris (Doug Williams) Copiskey, Tomahawk, WI; Marcia (Jeff) Barkus, Rhinelander, WI; Lisa (Glen) Briese, Helena, MT; Greg Magnant, Rhinelander, WI; and Kurt Magnant, Belgrade, MT. She is further survived by 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, a great-great-great-grandson, and a sister, Rose (Joseph) Klucarich, Milwaukee, WI.
Ellie led a rich and full life that will be celebrated privately by her family. She and Larry left Wisconsin in 1973 for an adventure in Wyoming that led them to Bozeman, MT. They settled for some decades in Townsend, MT. There, they made many true friends and were active in the local community. They treasured Montana and their large circle of friends. Ellie had a great love of music and while her body wasn’t as ‘spring-like’ in her later years, she would shuffle on her feet to live music whenever she had the chance right up until recent months.
The family wants to thank the staff at Milestone for their authentic love and care for Ellie these past years. They are protectors and angels on earth. The family would appreciate memorials being given to a caring healthcare worker of your choice whether it’s a cup of coffee a hug or a box of Dilly bars.
The family would also like to thank our sister Chris Copiskey for her never-failing devotion to our mother to ensure she always had what she needed or could want. She brightened our mother’s days with her love, dresses and costumes for proms and themed parties and revolving room decor for seasons. She brought in music and always showed appreciation to Milestone staff with tokens of appreciation and a truly thankful spirit. You blessed those of us so far away from Mom’s situation and we cherish you. Mom is so grateful.
