Little Guy Wrestling
Little Guy Wrestling hosted 7 teams, with a total of 340 wrestlers at their home meet on Saturday. The event was a little slow to get going with some issues getting TrackWrestling up and running properly, once those were settled the meet was fast-paced and seemingly ran smoothly.
The little Dawgs did not disappoint and showed up ready to roll on the mats. There was a visible improvement with many on their stance, moves, and knowledge. Impressive what one week of practice can make.
Townsend came in at 2nd place for team scores. 55 total placers. 20 - 1st place; 16 - 2nd place; 9 - 3rd place; 10 - 4th place. The overall team had 150 wins to 106 losses.
Middle School Wrestling
This year's middle school team has grown to about 16 wrestlers, 6 of those being girls. Broadwater High School added girls wrestling to their program this past season, thus allowing these athletes to continue participating in this sport once they enter high school. Six of the wrestlers are in eighth grade, and moving into their freshman year they will have a significant boost to the high school wrestling program filling the majority of current empty weight brackets.
The middle school hosted a mixer Friday afternoon with 7 teams in attendance. The Bulldogs dominated the mats with many wins by fall over their opponents.
Saturday middle school wrestled in the Townsend Little Guy Tournament, middle school / JR high division. They brought home 2 - 1st place; 4 - 2nd place; 3 - 3rd place; 4 - 4th place.
Little Guy Wrestling’s next event will be in Livingston on Saturday, March 2nd.
Middle School travels to Anaconda on Tuesday the 27th, Butte Central on the 29th, and Dillon on Saturday the 2nd of March.
Good Luck Dawgs, get the “W” and bring home some medals!
