County Commissioners Approve Sheriff’s Patrol Car Purchase

The Sheriff’s Department will be ordering a new patrol car to replace the unit that was demolished in a January 18 crash near Winston. Broadwater County Commissioners approved a $73,000 expenditure from Sheriff Nick Rauser’s budget to purchase a Dodge Durango along with needed equipment upgrade. Rauser explained insurance would pay for some of the costs, but that he had money in his budget to pay the difference.
*Many Rivers Whole Health will lease an office from the county health department for $300 per month. Commissioners approved the lease which will run for one year, according to Public Health Department Director Ruby Taylor. The counselor will be available to set up medications, check on people in their homes and visit detainees at the jail. “We are very pleased to have mental health services on site now. They will be available 3 days a week and virtual all five days of the week,” she said.
*The county will be signing an agreement with an interlocal purchasing system to analyze the various vendors the county works with. At the Montana Association of Counties (MACO) recommendation, the county will work with agents in the Region 8 Education Service Center to help lower the price of equipment and supplies the county purchases.
*Green Source Electric was awarded a service contract of $12,642 to hook up electricity to the new Livestock Pavilion. The bid includes labor, supplies and use of an excavator to lay conduit and install meter boxes, lighting and switch boxes for the pavilion. Broadwater County Trust Board and 4-H Council donations funds will fund the installation contract.
*Commissioners sorted their way through several county advisory board bylaw updates and approved board member changes. Israel Schwope has resigned from the Parks and Recreation Board. The commissioners received letters of interest to join the board from Bill Duede, Michael C. Ryan, both retired; and Dirk Gard, an environmental specialist. Commissioners appointed all three people. Current members of the board are Adam Six, Stacy Sommers, Jennifer Dalrymple and Lacey Forrey.
