Congratulations to both inaugural Townsend Robotics teams on their State Robotics Competitions successes last weekend!
The middle school-age team, the Broadwater Lego Avengineers, won 2nd place at State in the coveted Robotic Design and Programming Award. The high school age team, Broadwater Robotics, won 3rd place at State for The Motivate Award which is awarded to the team that represents the essence of the FIRST Tech Challenge competition through gracious professionalism and representing what it means to be a FIRST Tech Challenge team.
This is the first year there have been competitive robotics teams offered for middle school and high school-aged kids in Townsend.
To be a rookie team and to have placed so well at the State competition is a terrific accomplishment for the kids.
The Avengineers team members are Sydney Bucannon, Jayden Flynn, Anthony Grandy, Everett Kirksey, Titus Kirksey, Zoey Osborne, Karter Schmaus, Skylar Sellay, and Kathryn Six.
The Broadwater Robotics team members are Max Sellay (captain), Kaden Bruins, and Cooper Nichter. The coaches are Spencer Sellay and Roger Flynn for both teams.
The high school and adult mentors for the middle school team are Max Sellay, Amanda Pesicka, Adam Six and Lisa Brown.
A special thank you goes to STOKE, The Lodge, Skreens, Wild Pine Creations. Gianforte Family Foundation, and Broadwater Community Foundation for their generous sponsorship and support.
