The Harry Hall Mixer took place Thursday January 25th with four schools in attendance: Broadwater, Jefferson, Manhattan and Arlee.
Coach Hall has been coaching our Bulldogs for 49 years, with an overall 54 years of coaching experience. If you haven’t had the opportunity to catch Harry in action I highly recommend getting next wrestling season dates marked on the calendar!
The Boys brought their A game Thursday night wrestling a total of 16 bouts and walking away with 9 of those win by fall (pin). Eric Humphreys, Parker Hunt and Blake Wellenstein all came off the mat winning all their matches for the night. Hunter Borror, Nick Humphreys and Kaehl Owens going 1-1.
Friday night the Dawgs headed to Anaconda to battle for the Copper Shamrock.
This is also an annual event between Townsend and Anaconda. The two teams dual over the right to bring home the Copper Shamrock until they meet again the following season to battle it out again.
The event is kicked off by an impressive bagpipe performance typically played by head coaches and this year was accompanied by coach O’Dell keeping beat on bass drum. Once again the Boys were ready to roll.
For the Dual, Townsend had six total wrestlers. Hunter Borror, wrestling 160#, win by fall at 1 minute. Eric Humphreys, 170#, had a tough bout a got it done with win by fall at 3 minutes 32 seconds. The most energetic, nail-biting, exciting match of the night - Timmy Flesch at 182 pounds executed some great moves again this week. Flesch took his very first win by fall at 1 minute 1 second!
The actual matches wrestled for the dual the team went 3-3. Hunter Borror also took a win by fall at 2 minutes 10 seconds in an exhibition match. Team points Anaconda came out on top with forfeits from Broadwater in weight classes 103-132.
The Copper Shamrock will once again be residing in Anaconda. Broadwater will be hosting this event next wrestling season and hopefully, we will be able to showcase the Copper Shamrock and keep it in Townsend!
Bulldog weekly stats: Blake Wellenstein 2-1; Parker Hunt 2-0; Kaehl Owens 1-2; Hunter Borror 3-1; Timmy Flesch 1-2; Eric Humphreys 3-0; Nick Humphreys 1–2; Jacob Pesicka 0-2; Tristan Owensby 0-0
Bulldogs head the Shelby Thursday, February 1st for the Western Divisionals. Wrestlers that advance will compete February 9-10 in Billings at the State Tournament. Be sure and keep an eye and ear out for send-off dates and locations. Cheer on your boys in blue as they head out to these events!
