The criminal docket in Judge Chris Abbott’s courtroom on Friday, January 26 is as follows:

Margaret Austin appeared by Zoom for a Change of Plea, pleading Guilty to charges of a 4th DUI, a felony. In her elocution, she stated that she drove while drunk in Broadwater County; and that she has three prior convictions of DUI. A Pre-Sentence Investigation is ordered. She will be sentenced on March 22, 2024.

Ian Blaylock had his Evidentiary Hearing continued.

Vivian Cooper appeared by Zoom for Sentencing on a charge of criminal endangerment, a felony. She receives a 4-year deferred Sentence, with conditions. She must comply with and continue to follow the suggestions and instructions of her mental health professional. She must be screened for, and complete, an anger management or violent behavior class as approved by Adult Probation and Parole.

Julie Humphries entered a Change of Plea pleading No Contest to two counts of criminal endangerment, a felony. Her case is under review by the Department of Public Health and Human Services; where they have appointed Dr. Kersh, to address Humphries’ severe mental health issues. A Pre-Sentence Investigation is ordered; as well as a Pre-Sentence mental health evaluation. She will be sentenced on March 22, 2024.

Kyle Mostad appeared for an Admit/Deny Hearing; addressing charges of Reports of Violation on a four-year deferred Sentence. He denied that he 1) violated his firearm condition and 2) failed to remain law-abiding. His Evidentiary Hearing will be on March 22.

Cassandra Washington has continued her Change of Plea until February 16, 2024.

Steven Barnes had a Change of Plea on two counts of criminal endangerment. He pled Guilty, citing the Alford Plea (meaning given the evidence, a jury would probably find him guilty.) In his elocution, he stated that he had sexual contact with a minor. He must have a psycho-sexual evaluation. A Pre-Sentence Investigation is ordered. He will be sentenced on March 22, 2024.
