Cedar Street Home Damaged in Fire
MT 43 News Staff Reporter
A fire did heavy damage to a two-story home at 403 North Cedar in Townsend on Thursday, January 4. Townsend Fire Department Chief Ed Shindoll said the fire started at the back of the house. The call came in at 5:45 p.m. “The fire destroyed basically the entire house,” he reported.
Shindoll declined to say what started the fire. Fire departments that responded to the call were Duck Creek and Townsend. Broadwater County Sheriff’s officials and emergency responders were on standby to help should any injuries occur. There were no injuries. The fire was extinguished by 11:30 p.m.
Carole Anderson, Red Cross Director for Broadwater County, said her group responded to the needs of the displaced family. The family, who asked to remain unidentified, had four dogs, all of which survived the fire. One of the adult children was at home at the time, according to the father. He said he was very thankful for the quick response of the Townsend Fire Department.
