Ag Expo - Sponsored by John Deere Dealers:

Held on the MSU Bozeman Campus, the Ag Expo sponsored by John Deere Dealers was held on November 16th - November 18th, 2023. Broadwater FFA members attended the Expo in the following contests:

Livestock Judging- Kaitlyn Noyes, Aiden Kitto, Spencer Braaten, Ashley Sanderson

Vet Science Sr- Kaitlyn Noyes, Kayla Kraft, Grace Kroeger, Aubrey Wells, Janey Brunette, Ashley Sanderson

Vet Science Jr- Jacey Brunette

Sales- Gavin Schmele, Audrey Wells, Kayla Kraft, Ross Macdonald

Agronomy- Aiden Kitto, Nolan Flynn, Spencer Braaten, Gavin Schmele

Mechanics- Nolan Flynn, Ross MacDonald, Creighton Wright, Gavin Schmele, Kaden Bruins

Creed Speaking- Jacey Brunette

The Expo wasn’t all work and no play though, there were plenty of other fun events such as an FFA dance, interactive workshops, an inspiring keynote speaker, and the awards banquet. Here are the final standings of our teams:

Livestock Judging- Team Placing: 12th

Vet Science Sr- Team Placing: 13th

Vet Science Jr- Team Placing: 36th

Sales- Team Placing: 22nd

Agronomy- Team Placing: 13th

Mechanics- Team Placing: 28th

Certifications:

The Ag Program has started offering Industry Certification opportunities for students in various classes. Kaitlyn Noyes and Ashley Sanderson received their NCLCA Principles of Livestock Selection & Evaluation Certification. The National Collegiate Livestock Coaches' Association (NCLCA) Principles of Livestock Selection & Evaluation Certification verifies individuals have acquired the specialized skills necessary to excel in the livestock industry.

John Sommer received his Ducks Unlimited Ecology Conservation & Management Certification. The Ducks Unlimited Ecology Conservation & Management Certification verifies individuals have obtained exceptional knowledge and skills in the areas of ecological principles and wildlife management, as well as habitat, forest, grasslands, wetlands and waterfowl conservation and management. Congrats on all your hard work!

Membership:

As the years progress onward, so does our FFA chapter membership. With its numbers still continuing to grow, we have a number of 42 FFA Members as of the Fall Semester, of 2023. To join FFA, you must be enrolled in an agriculture course at the 8th - 12th grade level. If you’re a student at BHS and are interested in joining FFA in the future, seek out the agriculture teacher, Jemma Loughery, to enroll in an agricultural education program next year and join FFA.
