Grade School Christmas Concert

This time of the year brings happiness to people across the globe. With a time to be thankful, a time to remember who you are blessed with, a time to show the people you care about how much you care about them, and a time to recognize the love you share with the people present in your life. Christmas is about the entirety of the season's meanings. The parents racing to get the perfect gifts for their children and family members, the family gathering plans, and more stress parents out. Each year, as their children, we can perform concerts to showcase what we have learned and give them the gift of holiday spirit.

Last week, on December 7, the elementary school proudly showed their parents the love of music they had gained. With both traditional and contemporary music, kindergarten through fifth-grade students sang and played beautiful Christmas music that the parents will remember for a lifetime. However, it wouldn’t have been able to be done without Mrs. McNulty, the elementary music teacher. With her talent, her love for kids, and her teaching skills, the students performed a concert to remember.

Not only did students sing to entertain the crowd, but they also learned music on the xylophone, recorder, and even the piano. Songs included the Pinata Song, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, and Good King Wenceslas. Aside from this, Mrs. Bakkum taught the fifth-grade band and the fifth-grade choir. Mrs. Bakkum instilled a love of music in these students that no other teacher may have been able to do. With all of the breath in their lungs, the fifth-grade band played Clair De La Lune and Up on the Housetop. The fifth-grade choir sang the Sounds of Christmas, Angels We Have Heard on High, and Silent Night.

These children giving their parents an ounce of Christmas spirit isn’t the only thing given during this time to be thankful for. The students that played in the stands last night are the future generations. They are only learning now, but these students could be historical figures one day. Knowing that as a parent, you have the undying blessing of raising these children to be good people involved in their school, community, workplace, and wherever else is one of the greatest gifts of all. Not only should parents be proud of their children, but the children also deserve praise. Even though they may love to get in trouble, standing on that stage, waving down at their parents, they are so excited to be on a big stage and make their mom, dad, grandpa, and grandma proud. They don’t need to be forced to get up there, they want to show you what they have learned, and that overall, may be the greatest gift the children this holiday season give.
