County Honors Veterans Through Operation Green Light

You may have noticed green lights shining at the County Court House this week. At the November 1 meeting, Commissioner Chairwoman Debi Randolph declared the county would follow a national campaign to honor our 19 million United States war veterans to raise awareness and support for this underserved group in our country.
According to Commissioner Darrel Folkvord, Broadwater County ranks tenth out of 56 counties with the largest number of men and women who join the armed services. Per capita Montana ranks highest of all the states for the number of armed services members from Montana, he said. The commissioners passed a resolution to honor veterans beginning November 6 through November 11 by asking everyone to display green lights at their places of business and at their homes.
Commissioners approved a request from Nancy and Cory Davis to relocate their property boundary at the corner of Carson and Shelley Lanes, off Highway 287.
An annual work plan for the county Wheatland Tax Increment Financing District (TIF) was discussed and approved by the commissioners. Please see separate story.
A committee to review requests for proposals from newspapers which publish in Broadwater County was appointed by the commissioners. The proposals will bid to print Broadwater County’s legal advertising for a two-year term, through June of 2025. Review committee members are County Administrative Officer Bill Jarocki, Public Works Administrative Assistant Misty Masolo, Ann Rauser, Leslie Hiesey, Chris Wright and alternate Claire Harris.
Upon reviewing and scoring the bids, the committee will meet to give its recommendation to the commissioners. The bids will be opened to the public at the November 8 commissioners’ meeting. The commissioners will announce the winner of the bid at a future meeting.
