Are You Ready to Vote?

Do you know for sure that you are registered to vote, and in which county? Is it too late to register? What identification is needed? When and where can you vote?

For answers to questions about your eligibility and much more about the November 8 general election, visit soselections@mt.gov. That is the election website of Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen. Click on the “My Voter Page” and fill in your name and birth date” to find your own voter registration status, precinct and voting place. It’s all quite simple. A sample ballot is also available.

If you are not registered, it’s not too late. You can register at your county elections department until polls close at 8 p.m. on election day. The elections department for Broadwater County is in the Clerk and Recorder office in the courthouse at 515 Broadway in Townsend.

You may also cast an absentee ballot at the county office. Identification needed is a photo ID document, including but not limited to a valid driver’s license, a school district or postsecondary education photo ID, or a tribal photo ID. Otherwise, a current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check, or other government document that shows the elector’s name and current address.

Ballots were mailed on October 14 to voters on the regular absentee list.

Broadwater County’s five precincts will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on election day. The polling place for precincts 7, 11 and 12 is in the Townsend school library community room. The Precinct 13 polling place is the Toston Firehall, and that of Precinct 1 is the Winston Firehall.
