Lady Bulldog Volleyball - Sept 14 & Sept 16

Lady Bulldog Volleyball packed a great deal of competition in last week, starting with a home game against just-down-the-road competitors the Three Forks Wolves and finishing the week off at the Huntley Project Tournament.

Against the wolves, the Lady Bulldogs brought home a win in just three sets: 25-12, 25-15 and 25-14.

Leading at the net, Kaitlyn Noyes earned nine kills and three blocks. Reese Wolfgram executed seven kills, followed by Holly Newman with five and Cassidy Flynn with four. Newman thwarted one of the Wolves' attacks with a block.

Emily Bird, setter for the Lady Bulldogs, had 29 assists and 12 digs throughout the match. Bird also earned four kills against the Wolves.

Following their win, the Lady Bulldogs hit the road again, this time ready to take on teams from the eastern portion of the state.

In the first match of the tournament, the Lady Bulldogs faced the Big Timber Sheepherders. The Lady Bulldogs took the first set 25-12, taking the win with a second set win of 25-15.

Next up for the Lady Bulldogs were the Joliet J-Hawks. Both sets resulted in narrow wins for Broadwater: 25-20 and 26-24.

For their final match of the day, the Lady Bulldogs faced the tournament host: Huntley Project. The Red Devils held nothing back against their guests, and the Lady Bulldogs fell 13-25 in both sets.

The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Manhattan on Thursday, Sept. 21 to take on the Tigers, followed by a home match against the Ennis Mustangs on Sept. 23 at 4 p.m.

Out of the gym and on the football field, the Broadwater Bulldogs faced their district rivals the Whitehall Trojans. And the boys brought home the win with a final score of 36-14.

On Friday, Sept. 22, the Bulldogs welcomed the Manhattan Tigers to the Dog Park for a home game at 7 p.m., followed by an away match in Three Forks on Sept. 29 at 7 p.m.

Bulldog Cross Country also got some competition last week, participating in the Butte High Invitational on Friday, Sept. 15.

Junior Nolan Flynn, placed 101st in 19:16.5, followed by senior Connor Lamb in 107th. Lamb once again set a new personal record at the meet, shaving 2.9 seconds off his previous record to finish in 19:34.8.

Season Aidan Easter, was next to finish in 113th in 19:53.6. Easter’s time set a new season record.

For the Lady Bulldog runners, freshman Kyla Meissner took the lead again. Meissner finished in 20:45.4, taking 20th amongst runners from all classes. Up next was junior Kaelyn Sangray in 37th with a time of 21:28.5. Sangray’s time was 25 seconds faster than her previous personal record.

Junior Abigail Wickens finished 73rd in 23:04.3 and set a new season record by more than a minute less than her previous time.

Neither the boys nor the girls had enough runners to place as a team.

On Saturday, Sept. 23, Broadwater Cross Country traveled to Missoula for the Mountain West Classic.
