Deep Creek Pizza Opens in Townsend

There is a new eatery in Townsend!
Wait, you haven’t heard? It’s called Deep Creek Pizza Co; and it’s in the old Professional Building, 415 Broadway. If you happened to see the line forming outside, slightly before 11 a.m. it may have made you hungry. At promptly 11, diners of all ages rushed in. Seats and tables filled up fast; with a line forming to await a seat.
People got to know one another better when shared tables became ‘a thing.’ Cashiers and servers were very friendly, even when it got VERY busy and the wait for pizza was an hour. Almost everyone said it was worth the wait, especially when they were able to re-fill their ‘gratis’ Pepsi products in color-changing cups. After all, they got to visit with their neighbors; sometimes the only time you get to see friends is when you meet at an event; or, in this case, the opening of a new restaurant.
Everyone is so busy these days, but everyone needs to eat.
Of course, every opening day of a restaurant has its issues; the air conditioner failed to work, orders got misheard, and the hour wait…which is completely understandable, as 450 items went through the oven just on Saturday.
The Hildreth’s are thrilled! “We never expected to be greeted like this”, Kellen exclaimed, “I’m flabbergasted.”
Kellen and Michelle Hildreth have known each other for a long time. Kellen grew up in Dillon, Michelle went there to visit her grandparent’s family farm when she was younger. They became friends through Michelle’s cousin but didn’t begin dating until college. Asking what took so long, Kellen replied, “She finally wore me down; but, four kids later…something must have worked out!”
They began traveling, and the core (at least in this reporter’s eyes) of going to different places was finding the best food to enjoy. Michelle, one who loves to cook and eat, kept her eyes and nose at attention when traveling. What would her own restaurant look like and where would they settle? Helena was close, but not quite what they were looking for. When they seriously began looking, they found that the Professional Building was available.
A lot of work was needed, but the best things happen when you work for them. After securing the property, they got going on the renovation; which was a bit difficult since they were living in Utah at the time. Kellen commented that they have only been living in Townsend for three weeks! So happy to welcome them to town.
So, now, this is the newest, best place to eat in Townsend. Deep Creek Pizza Co. is open six days a week, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. (resting on Sunday). They serve huge salads, and a plethora of pizzas (using Kamut brand flour from Fort Benton, purported to have a higher nutritional content, for their crust). A gluten-free option is available on the small-size pizza. They have both bread sticks and cheese sticks. They even have dessert! Italian Ice is a cool, refreshing ending to a scrumptious meal.
You can even call in your order at 406-266-0002.
