Angelo Michael Stefano passed away unexpectedly on July 25th, 2023. As hard as it is for those of us here on earth, he was most certainly welcomed with open arms into heaven. Angelo was born in Johnstown, PA to Michael and Margaret Stefano. He was one of five amazing children: Anna Marie, Michael, Jimmy, and Elizabeth.
Throughout his life and all the places, he lived, Angelo “Ang” made many friends, friends he still had to this day. Angelo went on to join the United States Marine Corps which is where he earned the nickname “Baby Bull”. During his time in the Marines, Angelo was able to travel the world and meet many amazing fellow Marines, some of whom remained lifelong friends.
During Angelo’s time here on earth he held many titles; he was a son, brother, husband, uncle, cousin, grandfather, and friend. However, after the births of his children Grace and Dominic, “Dad” became his favorite title.
Angelo had a big heart, a big laugh, and the best bear hugs around, no matter what hurdles came his way. After the loss of his son, Angelo wanted to guarantee his entrance into Heaven to be reunited with Dominic. To ensure this, Angelo attended services at both Holy Cross Catholic Church and Faith Baptist church. Angelo truly leaned into his faith, attending bible study multiple times a week at Faith Baptist. He also sang in the choir and was part of the Knights of Columbus at Holy Cross. Through his faith journey, Angelo found a home and a community within the Baptist Church and went on to be baptized on April 16th, 2023 at Faith Baptist.
Angelo was a friend and more to so many people. He adored the vast number of friends he had in Maryland and then after moving to Montana he quickly gained many friends in Townsend. And in return, the community in Townsend embraced him. He could often be found at the local “Bread and Butter Cafe” at breakfast or grabbing coffee at the Town Pump in the early morning hours before work.
Angelo is survived by his daughter Grace, his sisters Elizabeth (Mark) Wood and Anna Marie (Chuck) Tow, and his brother Jimmy Stefano. His nieces Megan Wood, Julia Barnett, and Maggie Tow. Two of his best friends, Mike (Milligan) Hresko and Mike LaFleur. Angelo became a second dad to his “adopted daughters” Drisana Mann, Tessa Everngam, and Brianna Dicaprio. He also was a beloved “Papa” and “Papa Angelo” to his grandchildren; Bridger, Cooper, and Carter (Drisana) and Dominic and Ivy (Tessa). Angelo is also survived by many many friends, cousins, and extended family members.
Angelo is preceded in death by his parents Michael and Margaret Stefano, his brother Michael, and his son Dominic.
Angelo will be missed immensely by all who knew and loved him. While we are grieving his loss, we can find comfort that he has finally been reunited with Dominic, his son, who he missed every day.
A funeral service is to be held at Faith Baptist Church in Townsend, MT on Saturday, August 5th at 11 am, followed by the burial at Deep Creek Cemetery for the burial of his ashes. A reception will then be held at the gymnasium at Faith Baptist Church. Angelo felt strongly about helping those around him in any way he could. While flowers are appreciated, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Angelo’s name to Faith Baptist Church and the Mason Moore Foundation.
