“Nibbles is BACK!”

Laura Stevenson

A brief history of Nibbles, the coal chute mouse.

The owner of The Bird’s Nest store, Birdi Kribs, asked if I would paint a mouse to cover the old coal Shute located on the west side of the building. Intrigued by the challenge, I painted a mouse scrunched down looking out of a “hole”. To give the painting some additional protection, my father, John Larsen created a frame that would complement the picture. As the public noticed the mouse, there became a consensus among the patrons of The Bird’s Nest, that he should be given a name. Birdi set up a name suggestion box, and within a couple of weeks, the name, “Nibbles” was bestowed upon the painting.

Due to weather and intense west sun exposure, Nibbles began to absorb some damage and needed a facelift. After a few tweaks and some squeaks, he is ready to return to his home at The Bird’s Nest. Therefore, we are inviting you to join us in a Welcome Home Party; located at The Bird’s Nest, on 200 Broadway Street, Townsend MT, Saturday, October 22, 11:00 a.m. --2:00 p.m.

We will celebrate by sharing his favorite snack. Cheese and crackers, of course. Come join the FUN!
