The Church of the Latter-Day Saints is staffing the food pantry during the month of July.
Food pantry supplies were distributed to 25 families consisting of 43 family members on July 15th. This includes seven from the Home Maker Program.
The food pantry will be open on July 29th and August 5th. The 29th is the 5th Saturday and the 5th is the first in August. Clients are able to get food on both of these days.
For those gardeners, we do accept fresh produce. We are open for donations on Fridays between 3 and 5 pm. If those times are not convenient, you may call the numbers below and we can make arrangements for delivery.
Foods currently in need at the food pantry are cereal, spaghetti or elbow macaroni noodles, Skillet or Hamburger Helper meals and canned fruit. We are looking at options for our meat supply. If there are any farmers or ranchers who might have options for us, please call Karoline or Daryl at the numbers below. Purchasing a front quarter or two might be an option we could deal with. We also accept professionally processed elk meat.
The food pantry will only be open for the distribution of food and receiving food on the first and third full weekends. If there is a 5th Saturday, we will be open then also. If these days are inconvenient for any donations, please notify Karoline or Daryl at the numbers below.
If you are dropping off food donations during off hours, please do not leave them at the back door. They may go unnoticed and especially with the warming temperatures, the food may not be noticed for several days.
Distribution hours: Saturday distribution hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45. Distribution outside of the normal hours are for emergencies and on an individual basis. Emergency food needs can be distributed by calling Karoline Nelson at 438-3981 or Daryl Blumhagen at 406-980-0800.
How to Donate: Bob's Supermarket has donation boxes at the checkout counters. For donations of meat or other perishable items or for emergency food distribution, please call Karoline at 438-3981 or Daryl at 406-980-0800. The food pantry is open to accept donations from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the first and third Friday of the month. You may mail cash donations to Broadwater Food Pantry, P. O. Box 1164, Townsend, MT 59644. The food pantry is located at 315 Broadway.
