Cassie Cooper of C Hangin C gift shop in the former Train Station Building on Front Street has purchased Canyon Ferry Mercantile to complete her gift shop area. The new name will be C Hangin C Mercantile and Creamery. “ I was pleased to take on the takeout food business. I like that it fits what I’m doing with the gift shop,” she said.

Cooper purchased the ice cream and taco stand from Gayle Watson and Kwinci Tartarka who started the business in May 2020 just as COVID was in full swing. “We did it because it was something fun for families to do outside. It gave the high school kids jobs. Everyone enjoyed the ice cream,” Watson said.

Watson said it was Tartarka’s idea to make it a year-round business by adding tacos to the menu. “It is a great business model that you see in towns all around Montana,” Watson explained.

Cooper took over July 1st and plans to keep the menu the same as well as the hours. “The employees do a great job and I plan to keep selling Wilcoxin’s ice cream. She has ten year’s experience in running a restaurant so she is not new to the business.

Her gift shop specializes in Montana Made items, kids’ and ladies’ clothing. She also has lots of jewelry, wood art and handmade greeting cards among her gift items. She also specializes in custom sewing.
