“Swimming Beach Constructed”
During the past week much work has been done to make a suitable swimming beach. Several truckloads of washed sand have been hauled in from Helena where it was donated by the Helena Sand and Gravel Co.
The county and Neifert-White supplied the trucks to haul the sand. A raft is being constructed and will be launched in the near future. An area is being roped off and swimming instruction will be given by Mrs. Howard Doggett and Coach Radakovich just as soon as the river goes down a little more. Everyone is invited to use this “Waikiki Beach” of Townsend.

“Scouts Hike to Boulder Lake”
Boy Scout leaders, Scott Grover and Louie Day, took a group of Scouts of Troop 98 to Boulder Lakes over the week end. They left town Saturday and returned home late Sunday. They drove as far as possible in a truck and hiked the rest of the way in.
Camping out was fun and fishing fine, that is, for some of the boys. Making the trip were Scouts, Danny Day, Tony Kaul, Mickie Grover, Mike and Cleve Harrigfeld, Kenneth Toney, Nickie O’Dell, Larry Lundborg and Stave Lambert.

“Radersburg News”
Helen Harris celebrated the 4th of July – the 3rd with Sherri and Tamika Joan Harris at their home; Sally and Norman Bruce of Crow Creek and Susie, Rita and Terry Harris all enjoyed a picnic lunch in the yard with them. Helen had to work the 4th.
Marg Skillman called early Saturday evening saying Benny Skillman was better. Mary Sue Griffith and Marg took him to Fort Harrison Saturday evening.
Mary Jane Colby and son, Timmy, made a business trip to Helena Monday. While gone, a little after four o’clock, the wind came up with some rain and it sure did a lot of damage to their house. It took most of the roofing off on the south side and the TV antenna was tipped over on the north side of the house; tore the screen off the living room window. I bet she was just sick when she got home. Edna tells me Lynn left for Milwaukee with a load of lumber Monday morning.
Did not know if anyone else got that hail storm Friday evening, but the Burg sure had one. Hail and rain mixed. The road out front of the house was like a river for a little while. It didn’t hurt anything as I could see – my garden was okay.
