Bulldog Football Travels to Columbus Levi Van Zee The Bulldog football team made the long trek to Columbus to take on the Cougars last Friday night.

Columbus was the first to strike on their opening drive from the 30-yard line with a pass across the middle for a touchdown. Columbus would find the end zone again in the first quarter when Columbus quarterback Mason Meier ran up the middle for a 40-yard score.

The Dogs would not be denied their trip to the end zone as Sawyer Horne took the direct snap to punch it in from the 10-yard line. The Cougars would account for one more touchdown before the half with an Austin Rager run at the goal line. The Bulldogs made a strong push at the end of the first half as Deegan Mattson completed a 50-yard pass to Hunter McCartney. McCartney was tackled at the 7-yard line, but the Bulldogs fell short in their try of making the contest a 4-point game. The Bulldogs also shined in the first half with two key interceptions in the red zone by Braden Martin and Merrick Easter.

The halftime score was 18-7. Head Coach Joe Horne said, “This was one of the best halves of football we have played so far this season. The guys are really improving and playing together well as a team.”

The third-quarter scoring would belong to the Cougars with a touchdown from quarterback Mason Meier and a dive from Grayson Williams. Early in the fourth quarter, the Cougars were able to connect on a pass to Degan Nelson for a touchdown. Fourth Quarter scoring would culminate with a Cougar touchdown run from Cain Hanson. The final score would be 46-7 in favor of the Cougars.
