Flynn Breaks Old Cross-Country Record

Nolan Flynn has been working hard all year, and it paid off at the Home Cross Country Meet. With Nolan shaving 31 seconds off his old personal record (PR) he also shattered the old school record held by Jack Dolan. With the seven-year record broken, the sky’s the limit for Nolan.
In preparation for the meet, Nolan did the warm-up run and got several pep talks by many of his supporters. “My biggest support would be either the coach, my uncle, or my uncle’s dad. My uncle did cross country in high school so he gives me advice and cheers me on. My team helps. They always cheer me on. They kept telling me that I could get the record."
Thursday, October 17 was one of the coldest meets of the year in Townsend. To prepare for the run, many runners wore beanies or sweats. Some had sweatshirts or coats with them. Our school started with the Varsity girls' run. Kyla Meissner was able to crush the competition and placed first in the race with a time of 19:19. In fourth overall, freshman Elaine MacDonald was able to race with a time of 20:23. Our girls all pushed hard and many of them were able to get new PRs in just the last few meets. The eight girls that raced had records everywhere. Four of them were able to get new personal records- Arabella McDaniel, Elaine MacDonald, Kaelyn Sangray, Shalyn Sentinella. Fiona Nelson was able to get a season record, and Kyla Meissner tied with her PR from a meet earlier in the season.
Not only were the girls on fire, but the boys came out strong with seven out of the eight boys who raced getting new personal records- Alex Johnson, Gavin Green, Kaden Bruins, Keaton Cavasos, Nolan Flynn, Rylan Hoveland, and Samuel Flesch.
These personal records, and the hard work that came with them, prepares the team for State. State Cross Country is on Saturday, October 26 in Missoula. Our Bulldogs are having a busy week to physically and mentally prepare for it. The team members will do whatever they can to not only improve their times this weekend but also crush the remaining competition. The community knows how phenomenal the team is and we all can’t wait to see what they bring home from the State Meet.
