THIS WEEK'S CATEGORY: Bravo, Bravo, Bravo!
"The Real Housewives of Orange County" was the first show to give us a glimpse into what it's like to be a wealthy housewife in suburbia -- at least in the reality TV genre. These five podcasts will all be celebrating the 20th anniversary season of "RHOC," which premiered on Bravo on July 9:
"Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen" -- Audio versions of the interviews from Andy Cohen's weeknight talk show on Bravo are available to download for free. Vicki Gunvalson will likely have been a guest by the time that you read this. Haven't heard of her? She's the CEO of an insurance company in Orange County who has screamed and yelled her way into a lucrative reality show career. She was fired from "RHOC" after she filed a lawsuit against the network in 2020. All's now forgiven, and she's been hired back to stir the pot just in time for season 20! (BravoTV.com)
"Everything Iconic with Danny Pellegrino" -- If there's one name I hear the most about who would be the best successor to Andy Cohen's throne as a talk-show host, it's Danny Pellegrino. His hit podcast is like appointment radio the day after your favorite Bravo show has aired. He just finished up recapping a scandalous season of "Summer House" with "In the City" and "The Valley" closely on its heels, but this just leaves more room on Pellegrino's rundown for "RHOC." "Jeff Lewis Has Issues" -- One of Bravo's original divas, Jeff Lewis, hosted the home renovation show "Flipping Out" for 11 seasons on the network. He's since become quite a successful podcast host, and a condensed form of his talk show on Sirius, "Jeff Lewis Live," is available wherever you get your podcasts. His guests, most of whom are his friends, visit frequently and include reality stars like "RHOC's" Tamra Judge and "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills'" Kyle Richards. But he's also had on actors and comedians like Jamie Kennedy, Molly Sims, Mindy Cohn, and singer Carnie Wilson. (SiriusXM.com)
Don't Forget These Gems
"Watch What Crappens" -- Hosts Ben Mandelker and Ronnie Karam are the opinionated impersonators who hilariously recap almost all of the Bravo shows, practically word for word. Their "Real Housewives" episodes (especially the "Orange County" franchise) are arguably their finest work with spot-on impressions, but be sure to check out episodes on "Below Deck," "The McBee Dynasty," and "Next Gen NYC." You also have access to most, if not all, of their library of recaps for the past 14 years. (ART19.com)
"Drama, Darling: A Real Housewives Comedy Podcast" -- Impressionist Amy Phillips' reality TV recaps shouldn't be listened to while sipping coffee. Her impression of "RHOC's" Shannon Storms Beador has even been endorsed by Ms. Beador herself. Amy also takes on other pop-culture shows, true-crime documentaries, and cooking shows like "Top Chef."
